Good ol' healthy fun, Top Our Toppings One of the best parts about our frozen yogurt is all the delicious toppings you get to put on top! From chocolate to nuts to gummies to fruit, there's something for everybody in our toppings bar. And when it comes to fruit, we've got you covered, with peaches, strawberries, blueberries, and all other kinds of berries available in store. And it turns out that they have even more health benefits than we previously thought!
According to a study that comes from the Nurses' Health Study II, younger women who eat at least three servings per week of strawberries or blueberries reduce their likelihood of suffering a heart attack by one-third, compared with their sisters who incorporated fewer of the berries into their diet.
The berry benefit was sufficiently strong that it held even after researchers adjusted for age, high blood pressure, family history of heart attack, body-mass index, exercise, smoking, and caffeine or alcohol intake. Researchers suggested that a group of dietary flavenoids called anthocyanins, which give blueberries and strawberries their colors, may be responsible for the health benefits seen in the study's large sample of subjects.
Anthocyanins are known to dilate arteries and counter the buildup of plaque that causes atherosclerosis.
A study conducted revealed that women who ate the most strawberries and blueberries, three or more servings weekly, were 32% less likely to be among those who suffered an early heart attack than were women who ate fewer berries — even women whose diets were otherwise rich in fruits and vegetables.
So when you're indulging in some frozen yogurt remember to add a couple of berries on top!
